Vaastu Shastra
Vaastu Shastra, the ancient Vedic system of architecture, has been used in India for centuries. It prescribes guidelines for design, layout, ground preparation and other aspects that go into creating a harmonious dwelling, similar to the better known Chinese Feng Shui system. Vaastu outlines the best possible layouts and solutions for bringing maximum success and prosperity.
A building is an extension of a person. It is connected to both the cosmic energies present in the environment and to the energy field of the occupants. Vaastu is the science of building to bring health, prosperity, happiness and peace of mind. As we also are dealing with rented spaces for living and business, Vaastu also deals with the interior aspect of a building. How and where to arrange everything in a particular order so the harmonious flow of energy will be maintained.
Vaastu Purusha
The Vaastu Purusha is the mystical lord responsible for the strength and happiness of the house. He is the personification of the land on which a house or building stands. He is said to be lying with his face down and his head facing North-East (positive thinking), both his feet on the South-West (stability), navel in the Center (awareness) and hands in the North-West and South-East (movement and energy).
The Earth herself is Bhumi Ma or Dharti Ma. The Vaastu Purusha is face down upon Her. She is the land/Earth itself, and He is everything that is on top of the land. Hence, you will find in this balance, similar to the Yin-Yang principle.
